Tall Ships 1 & 2

#1

the ship turns
maneuvers to
a broadside
exposed
portside
each gun fires at will
searching for
the blow to
end the battle

#2

she's a warship
a feminine killer
languid on gentle blue
ready to snort
pungent clouds
of hot metal
deadly flowers
to greet her
adversary

These two micro-poems were initially written as tweets while visiting a Tall Ships festival on the Great Lakes. A naval battle enactment was part of the festivities. I ran out of characters and could not include the hashtag #TallShips. So, here they reside.
